Beginner Homeless Outreach & Navigating the Resources Training
This event covers:
Open Table Nashville’s Outreach Philosophy
A systemic analysis of homelessness
An overview of evidence-based practices including Trauma-Informed Care and Harm Reduction
Tips on approach, engagement, and cultivating healthy boundaries
Special considerations like physical and mental wellness and substance use disorders
A crash course in active listening and navigating the resources in Nashville
Whether you’re completely new to homeless outreach or you’re just looking for more information and tools, this training is a great place to start. For this particular training, we’ll dedicate additional time to helping people understand how to navigate the resources.
Our training sessions are held in spaces that are wheelchair accessible. We operate on a pay-as-you-can basis and ask for attendees to contribute $5-20 for each session. The recommended donation for this training is $15. People who can’t pay are also more than welcome to come!
Snacks and light refreshments will be provided. Mask wearing is optional and participants will have plenty of room to spread out. We’ll also have extra masks available.
