Water Workshop

At the workshop, we talked about the water system of the whole farm. The system includes the rain barrels, the drip irrigation and the well.

Water for Your Garden

  • When there are long periods without rain, staff water your garden one time each week with drip irrigation from the well.

  • You can use mulch to keep water in the ground. We have straw that you can purchase from the garden store. A long time gardener, Paw Shu shared that she mulches using weeds that she pulls up.

  • You can also try building an olla, which is a practice of watering for many Indigenous communities around the world. You can see how to build one out of two clay pots here.

  • Moon, another gardener, shared that she tried making something similar with water bottles in her home garden last year. You can see how to make it here.
