Chris Burke, Growing Together Manager

Chris grew up in North Texas. He graduated from Austin College in the fall of 2015, and then moved overseas to teach English for a year in the town of Rövershagen, Germany. After returning to the states, he took a yearlong AmeriCorps position with a refugee resettlement agency in San Antonio, TX. He stayed on with the agency as a full-time employee for an additional three years, welcoming newly arrived refugees and helping them apply for and receive federal benefits. In the summer of 2020, he moved to Nashville with his partner. His non-profit background and experience working with refugees, coupled with his love of gardening and the outdoors eventually led him to the Nashville Food Project’s Growing Together Program. When not at work, Chris enjoys running, hiking, cooking/burning things in his kitchen, and wrangling his dog Sasquatch.
