15 years of growing, cooking & sharing

What began in 2011 with a simple belief in the power of food has grown into a community of farmers, cooks, volunteers, donors, partners, and neighbors working together to cultivate community and alleviate hunger. Across gardens and kitchens, community organizations and shared tables, people have offered what they have so that others might be nourished.

Together, we have shared nearly 2.8 million meals, recovered more than 2.4 million pounds of food, grown more than 100,000 pounds of produce, and contributed more than 105,000 volunteer hours.

The numbers tell part of the story. The deeper story lives in the relationships behind them.

It is found in the volunteer who returns to the kitchen week after week. In the farmer growing foods that carry the memory of another home. In the community partner who understands what nourishment looks like in their neighborhood. In the donor whose generosity makes it possible to purchase ingredients, tend gardens, maintain vehicles, and prepare thousands of meals each week.

Each person has helped shape what The Nashville Food Project is today.
